District Leaders Use the Entrepreneurial Mindset to Inspire Innovation and Change
On today’s episode, we partnered with Doug Roberts, the CEO and Founder of the Institute for Education Innovation and the host of the podcast, Talk Supes (and CEOs), to talk with two education leaders who have navigated the challenges of the pandemic and are implementing an entrepreneurial mindset into the work they are doing every day.
Katie Lash, the Executive Director for the East Central Educational Service Center in Indiana and Quintin Shepherd, a superintendent for Victoria Independent School District in Victoria, Texas , share how they believe having an entrepreneurial mindset has helped them to creatively solve problems, especially during this unusual time in life and in education.
Quintin talks about how he believes school districts need to reduce the risk of failure if they are going to see true and lasting change, and the importance for understanding the difference between challenges that are complicated and challenges that are complex.
He also outlines how he believes those who demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset tend to approach their work:
1) They have a need for achievement with clear metrics.
2) They are urgent in their approach to problem solving.
3) They are self-driven.
4) They have a high tolerance for ambiguity.
